I’m Tiffany Herrera. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Human Development from Utah State University in May of 2008. From there I worked at 2 different residential treatment centers for teenage boys, then a day care, and then the YMCA as a site director for the after school program at Eisenhower Junior High in Taylorsville. While working for the YMCA I interned as a school counselor, also at Eisenhower Junior High. I graduated with my Master’s Degree in school counseling, also from Utah State, in May of 2013. During the 2013-2014 school year I worked as a substitute guidance counselor for Granite School District, working with both junior high and high school. I spent the 2014-2015 school year as the half-time counselor here at Ascent, and will be full time this school year.
I was born and raised in Utah, and have lived here most of my life with the exception of 6 months that I spent in Illinois, and 18 months on the African Islands of Cape Verde, where I learned to speak Portuguese and the Cape Verdean dialect of Creole. I have vacationed in Mexico, Canada, Portugal, and 30 of the 50 states. I hope to hit all 50 in my lifetime. I enjoy sharing my adventures with my husband and adorable daughter (born in December of 2013).
I have lived my entire life in the Salt Lake Valley, attending Utah State University and Salt Lake Community College. Much of my experience before working in a charter school was acquired at the City of South Jordan as the City Administrator's secretary and City Recorder. However, this will be my 7th year as an Office Manager for a local charter school.
My husband and I have three children, who have attended local charter schools for several years. Our youngest will be in junior high at AAUWJ. I have volunteered for many years at my children’s schools, PTAs, and various community groups. I also organized the very first scrapbooking categories of competition for the Salt Lake County and Utah State fairs.
When not at school, you will find me spending time with and supporting my family, making greeting cards, rubber stamping, and watching reality TV. I am thrilled to be working at Ascent Academies being able to say I was here for "Year One" and beyond!
I am excited to be working in the office at Ascent Academy this year. I have worked as an aide for the past 5 years and have found that I really enjoy working in a school environment.
I grew up in Montana and moved to Utah as a teen. After I met my husband, we moved to Colorado and lived there for 10 years. I currently live in West Jordan with my husband and two children. My kids keep me busy running them to hockey and softball. When I’m not cheering them on, I enjoy crafting, reading and going to the Utah football games.
I was born as a Southern Belle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My family moved when I was only two and headed to the great state of Utah. I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley, and settled down with my family in West Jordan. Much of my experience before working in a charter school was acquired in the Financial Industry working as a teller, loan officer, trainer and an assistant manager. I am excited to work with the faculty, students and parents of Ascent Academy of West Jordan.
My husband and I have two children, who are students at AAU. I currently volunteer on two committees for the school. PAWS (Parents Ascent West Jordan) and the Holiday Boutique.
When not at school, you will find me spending time with and supporting my family, reading a good book, and watching movies. I am extremely excited to be your Office Assistant!
